Store Your Automobile Securely
Protecting your vehicle from serious damage while storing it at a vehicle storage facility is very important. There are certain things that you need to do to prevent your vehicle’s battery from corroding and leaking. There are also ways you can prevent moisture from building and your gas getting sticky.
Here is what you must do and types of storage available:
1. Completely fill your car with gas before storing. This is one of the most important things you can do. By filling it to the top, it leaves no space in your tank which helps to prevent moisture from building up and causing rust. Also, pouring in a fuel stabilizing additive is a great way to stop oxidation. This helps keep your gas from becoming sticky over time.
2. Do not use your parking brake – Over time, your brake pad could end up being melded to the rotors. This can cause real problems when trying to release the parking brake.
3. Clean, wash and wash your car. Remove all traces of food as well as dirty or damp floor mats. Otherwise, moisture will build up within the car and can cause serious damage. Keeping the outside of your car clean and waxed will help to prevent corrosion.
4. Choose a vehicle storage that offers a lot of features and security. Preferably an enclosed facility like Park 720 offers in Cape Coral, FL. This helps prevent vandalism and protection from weather. Also, an entirely paved facility is great because your vehicle is never exposed to mud or standing water. Unlike grass or gravel, asphalt is not a friendly place for bugs and unwanted pests.
5. Covered storage – is a great choice to shelter your vehicle from the sun and reduce exposure to rain and debris. These are usually side-by-side spaces designed and built for max protection.
6. Enclosed storage – Garage style storage keeps your vehicle safe and is usually the premium accommodation at vehicle storage facilities
7. Outside Storage – This kind of storage is best for items that will not get damaged with prolonged exposure to the sun; like utility trailers, flat bed carriers & boat trailers.
The most important thing you can do is to eliminate moisture from building up in your vehicle. This is what causes the most damage above everything else. Take these tips listed here, apply them and it will help you to keep your vehicle safe while being stored away.
